Stationery Island Product Spotlight
Hi WashiGang Crew!
This year, one of our main focuses has been to find a variety of brand new bullet journals to offer our customers! We've been busy looking for quality bullet journals to add to the shop with varying features to suit your bullet journaling needs. One of our latest new bullet journals to arrive in the shop are a beautiful new range from a brand called Stationery Island!
We've done a few pen tests in these and we're happy with the results! We can't wait to show you our review on Stationery Island Bullet Journals. Read on to find out more about Stationery Island Bullet Journals and why we love them.
Stats:
Stationery Island Bullet Journals are designed in the UK.
Size - A5
Cover - Vegan PU leather hard cover
Paper - 120gsm dot grid ivory paper
Binding - Thread bound, opens flat 180 degrees
Pages - 180 Pages
Features - 2 ribbon bookmarks, an expandable back pocket for storage & an elastic band closure
Firstly, we LOVE the range of covers! We selected these bullet journals for their vibrant colourful range of hardcovers. These covers are minimalist in design, so that you can choose your favourite colour rather than a design that you may not want on the front. So often we see bullet journals with fun designs, but the design we like might not match the colour we want. These hard covers are also made from VEGAN leather. They have a lovely texture when you hold them, that feels like leather, but no animals were harmed in the process. The plain colour covers are available in Apple, Berry, Blossom, Lavender, Sunflower, & Teal.

Then there's the paper! This premium 120gsm ivory paper is sooo smooth to write on. The 120gsm paper weight makes these pages light as a feather and we're obsessed with the smooth texture. Writing on this smooth paper makes your pen glide across the page so easily! It's also fountain pen friendly! We've tried out a range of gel pens, markers, brush pens, paint pens and fountain pens without any bleeding on the page or through to the other side. It's amazing how strong these light weight pages are! Even the thicker & inkier markers and brush pens barely ghost through the page, leaving minimal shadowing for your bullet journaling.
Stationery Island bullet journals can be used as a regular bullet journal, with title pages, quotes and decorative hand lettering, illustrations and page designs using brush pens, markers, gel pens, washi tapes and stickers. Whilst this journal is suitable for use with brush pens and markers, we recommend using this journal predominantly for journaling, note taking & bullet journaling as opposed to art journaling. For art journaling, where you might prefer to do painting, use paint pens, or use a thicker coating of brush pen layering, as well as full page artworks, we would recommend a journal with thicker paper such as our Sophie Grace Creates or Mossery Mixed Media Sketch Journals.
The smooth paper texture also makes this journal ideal for using with washi tapes & washi stickers, that peel off smoothly if you need to replace or adjust them! Decorate your pages until your heart is content with stickers and washi tapes! We've also tested the paper with our glue tape and the paper is sturdy and strong enough to support collage elements. Keep in mind not to use too many wet elements or thick layers in your collage to keep the structure and integrity of the paper in tact.
For Bullet Journal beginners, Stationery Island has an A5 Dotted Journal Essentials Kit, that's the perfect introduction to bullet journaling. This A5 Black bullet journal comes with all of the essentials you'll need to start your bullet journal, including 6 x sticker sheets, 1 x sticky note pack, 1 x metal ruler and 1 x black fine liner pen. The stickers are a mix of practical and cute, which include labels, flags, borders and icons.

If you love a cover design, Stationery Island also have 2 gorgeous collaboration Bullet Journals that are super cute! These collaboration bullet journals each come packaged in a box, which makes them perfect for gift giving!
The collaboration Bullet Journal with Surely Simple, is bright orange and features cute icons from around the home that include animals, snacks and plants! The collaboration design is by artist Aaria Baid (@surelysimpleblog) - an artist, blogger, and writer. She loves art and calligraphy, experimenting with (and collecting) stationery and art supplies, connecting with people, and keeping life surely simple.
Aaria hopes to inspire you in some way to reconnect and hold on to your hobbies and passions. She started for that very reason, it inspires her to hold on to her creativity and explore, discover and learn new things along the way.

The second collaboration Bullet Journal is designed in collaboration with Shelly Kim from Letters By Shells! It's coral pink and features a beautifully hand lettered quote that says, "Dream Big." Shelly Kim is the artist behind Letters by Shells and discovered the act of creating art as a creative outlet from her desire to release stress from her full-time insurance job back in 2015. She has made it a mission for her artwork to express love and positivity, and for it to inspire others to believe that anything in life is totally possible.

We'd love to use the Stationery Island bullet journal for journaling, habit tracking and note taking. We'd pair this journal with matching washi tape & washi stickers and a Sarasa Gel Pen & Mildliner pack or one of the Limited Edition Zebra Sarasa 'Flower Bouquet' Pen Sets.

Shannon: As a gardening journal.
Bec: As a commonplace notebook for a bit of everything!
Emily: As an ideas journal.
Which covers would we all choose?
